Jamar Johnson lands with the Philadelphia Eagles.

While it’s not a cornerback, Jamar Johnson is the perfect fit for Jonathan Gannon’s defense. Johnson often aligned in two-high safety sets and showed off his instincts every Saturday.

He might not be a speed demon but he doesn’t have to play the single high role every snap. The Birds did add to the safety position this offseason but Johnson gives them stability for the future.

Here at ITI, we had Johnson graded as a top-five safety in this year’s class. If he falls to pick 123, the Birds would be wrong not to take him unless another steal like Jabril Cox, Kenneth Gainwell, or Michael Carter continues to fall.

The Indiana safety possesses adequate size for the position at six-foot, 205 pounds. He played some of his best football in the 2020 season with four interceptions.

Johnson is willing to help out in any capacity whether it’s sliding down to the box, playing the slot, or contributing on special teams. He’s also got the tough mentality that is needed to play in the city of brotherly love. This pick should be put in quickly if he is on the clock.
