Philadelphia Eagles WR Jhamon Ausbon has most to gain after recent cuts
Well, that came out of nowhere, but that’s typically how the Philadelphia Eagles do business, isn’t it? Things are normally quiet and then BOOM! Out of nowhere, there’s an unexpected signing or some form of shuffling of the roster.
June 9th was just such an occasion. Birds fans were busily retweeting the expected ‘Wallpaper Wednesday’ drop Philly drops every Hump day on social media as many of the Eagles’ fans on the East Coast were getting off of work (or getting close to it).
4:18 p.m. EST came, andthere it was. The Eagles were releasing not only converted wide receiver Khalil Tate and quarterback Jamie Newman but also someone quite a few Birds fans (and some of the Inside The Iggles staff included) were cheering for, fellow undrafted rookie Trevon Grimes.
The latter was seen as someone who could make the roster but seeing as how his NFL dreams are on pause mode, a fan base who loves a good underdog story needs to find another dark horse to look for. Enter Jhamon Ausbon. He’s a six-foot-two, 210-pound future star who cut his teeth at Texas A&M for the Aggies.

For those who are unaware, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen Jhamon Ausbon on a football field. He sat out of the 2020 campaign due to concerns over COVID-19, and that’s understandable.
Playing would have probably raised his draft stock for the 2021 selection meeting. Still, no one will criticize his decision to sit out, nor should they.
Here’s what the collegiate resume looks like. In 34 career games at the collegiate level, he hauled in 147 receptions for 1,818 yards and eight touchdowns. If you need an NFL comparison, he’s the same height as JJ Arcega-Whiteside and about 15 pounds lighter.
Frankly, if you watch some tape, Ausbon might actually be what we were told Arcega-Whiteside is.

He’ll get a nice shot here with this Philadelphia Eagles team if they don’t crowd the wide receiver room with two or more additional bodies. Sure, he’s a long shot to make the roster as he’s staring up at a ton of guys on the depth chart. Still, even with that being said, with the way new head coach Nick Sirianni has been stressing competition, who knows? This guy can win a three-point contest or something (maybe). It will be interesting to see how he progresses through camp.
