Jalen Hurts best and worst throws of Week 10

Eagles rookie DeVonta Smith delivered a performance to remember, didn’t he? The most recent Heisman Trophy winner hauled in four of Hurts’ 16 completions, resulting in 66 yards and two touchdowns. His first TD reception was truly a thing of beauty. Take a look.

But, how often is it that an NFL’s prettiest pass results in an incompletion? Such is the case with a bomb from QB1 to Quez Watkins. With 15 seconds remaining before halftime, QB1 uncorked one from the Broncos’ 34-yard-line. The pass was perfect, but unfortunately, Quez Watkins would be unable to haul it in. That would have given the Birds a 24-10 halftime lead.

Hurts didn’t have a lot of bad throws in this one, but if we were to classify his ‘worst’ throw, we’d have to rewind the tape to early in the third quarter. Following a field goal block by K’Von Wallace to halt the Broncos’ first drive of the second half, the Birds are faced with 3rd and nine from their 11-yard line with 9:22 remaining in the third quarter.

With time and decent protection, Hurts floated a bad-looking pass to DeVonta Smith that looked like Patrick Surtain II was in the pass pattern but Hurts’ and DeVonta Smith’s former teammate dropped what should have been an interception.

Thank goodness this one didn’t cost the Eagles too much. Still, if you asked Hurts about one throw that he’d like to have back, it would probably be this one.
