The Eagles must generate more sacks and turnovers.

Two things will always work hand in hand when it comes to playing defense in the National Football League. Teams want to cover well to allow the pass rush enough time to find its target. The pass rushers want to get home quickly so the secondary doesn’t have to cover as long.

We’ve seen the Birds generate sacks and turnovers at various points of the season, but if they can do that with more consistency, it will make life a lot easier on the entire team.

This is an offense with a lot of young players at many of the important positions. They could be assisted and possibly energized by seeing their defense create some extra opportunities for them. They just have to make sure that they convert those opportunities into points when that happens.

Jalen Hurts has thrown five interceptions. The offense has lost three fumbles. Philly’s defense, on the other hand, has forced three fumbles that they’ve recovered while picking off the opposing team’s quarterback six times. That means they’re +1 turnover differential for all of you math geniuses out there. That’s nothing to write about as it puts them smack dab in the middle of the NFL’s pack.

Seven games remain, and if the Birds continue to improve on the defensive side of the ball and make a few more splash plays, it could mean the difference in an extra win or two.
