Well, what a game this turned out to be. Needing a win by the Dallas Cowboys to strengthen their chances at a postseason berth, whether anyone wants to acknowledge that or not, the Philadelphia Eagles, enjoying a bye week, saw that plan executed rather well early. Dallas got off to a blistering 18-0 head start over the rival Washington Football Team after the first quarter but, as you would expect, they let the team with no nickname fight their way back into the game.

Washington outscored the so-called America’s Team by a 20-3 margin in the second half, eventually closing the gap to 27-20, but the Cowboys hung on. They’re now 9-4 on the season.

Washington, thanks to Dallas’ alley-oop pass to the Birds (a.k.a. a divisional and interconference win) sees its winning streak end as they slide identical records with the guys from the City of Brotherly Love (6-7).

That makes Week 15’s game between the Eagles and Washington a huge clash in the chase for one of those Wild Card spots in the NFC. Dallas has thrown them a lob pass. All Philadelphia has to do now is catch that alley-oop and slam dunk. As everyone knows, Philly and the Football Team’s first meeting of the season comes in Week 15 at 1 p.m. EST.

The Eagles have to show up for Week 15’s game.

As December 12th moves towards dinner time on the East Coast, thoughts shift to next week. The Eagles close their regular-season campaign with two games versus the Washington Football Team in three weeks (Week 15 and Week 17). They host the New York Giants in Week 16 before finishing their season versus Dallas in the regular-season finale.

They’ll need to be perfect (or close to it). The loss to Big Blue in Week 12 was a letdown, but if they handle their business, they should slide into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth. The only problem is they may not do a ton of damage when they get there.
