54. . . . Demetress Bell, tackle. 2. player

Demetress Bell didn’t work out in the manner that the Eagles hoped.

When the Eagles traded three picks in 2009 to the Buffalo Bills to acquire Jason Peters, Demetress Bell was one of the young offensive linemen that Buffalo decided to lean on to replace him. He was actually Demetrius Bell at that time and changed his name to Demetress later, stating that was his real name all along.

Regardless of spelling, and after 31 games with 30 starts as a member of the Bills, Philly, after Peters tore his Achilles tendon in 2012, wound up adding Bell to their nest after signing him to a five-year deal for nearly $35 million just three days after April Fool’s Day. Let’s just say it didn’t work out.

Only the first year was of that deal was guaranteed at $3.2 million, but Bell only started the first five games of the regular season after almost getting Michael Vick killed. In all, Bell gave up three sacks and nine additional hits on Vick.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, he allowed 21 more hurries, 33 pressures, and was called for nine penalties that season. King Dunlap took over after passing him on the depth chart. Bell was cut during the next offseason, and he never played another snap in the NFL after Philadelphia released him.
