Depending on where you’re from and how old you are, there’s a saying that you’ve probably heard a time or two, even if you can’t remember who the author is or where you heard it first. How’s this for theory? “If you want to know who a man is, ask his wife”. It makes sense right? They’re our protectors, biggest supporters, most enthusiastic cheerleaders, and at times, our sounding boards. Recently, Stephon Gilmore‘s wife, Gabrielle, confirmed the validity of one of the more interesting Philadelphia Eagles stories we’ve heard all week.

It appears, though there’s been no signing, that Howie Roseman and company have reached out to inquire about the five-time Pro Bowler and two-time First-team All-Pro.

Don’t take our word for it though. Here’s confirmation:

Considering the source, and without doing any research, we’re pretty confident that we can confirm the news as being accurate.

It appears the Eagles may not be done making their mark on free agency’s picture.

There’s a reason why we all have Twitter accounts and watch the NFL Network. Being updated on the league’s comings and goings as they happen is always fun. Never once have we ever tuned into ESPN and seen a story broken by Gabrielle Gilmore, but again, no one knows more about what’s going on with the 2019 season’s NFL Defensive Player of the Year than she does.

On matters relating to this, we’ll defer to her knowledge before we listen to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport or ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

For Birds fans, this is good news… sort of. Gilmore isn’t the player that he once was, and arguments can be made that Philadelphia should take the time to invest its resources into other areas if they want to upgrade their secondary, the coming draft for instance.

Still, it’s nice to see that the organization is still trying to be aggressive in landing difference-makers, especially seeing as how, up until this point and outside of the signing of Haason Reddick, the game plan has seemingly been to ‘run it back’ with the same team that went 9-8 and got spanked in the NFC Playoffs a season ago.

light. Trending. Free agents the Eagles should be praised for ignoring

There’s still work to do if the Eagles are going to become a perennial contender. We can agree or disagree about whether or not Stephon Gilmore helps elevate Philly’s defense and the other 52 men on the active roster, but again, it’s nice to see Howie Roseman is thinking outside of the box that has trapped his strategy in roster-building all offseason.
