2 moves that prevented Eagles from aggressively pursuing Bobby Wagner

The Eagles have destroyed all hope of landing Bobby Wagner.

We’ve seen Philadelphia Eagles vice president/general manager Howie Roseman do some strange and, at times, unforgivable things. Allowing Louis Riddick to get out of the door was a bad idea. So was blowing all of that money on Nnamdi Asomugha even though we try to be understanding of that one. Let’s not act like everyone wasn’t after him.

The Jalen Reagor selection stings though, especially when you watch Justin Jefferson play. Philly had an opportunity to make some impressive signings this offseason, and instead, they decided to run it back with many of the average players from a season ago that contributed to the Eagles finishing the 2021-2022 season with a 9-8 record and an embarrassing loss in the NFC Playoffs.

When those things happen, it’s often wise to pursue better players. Take Bobby Wagner for example. He’s an eight-time Pro Bowler (2014–2021), a two-time Second-Team All-Pro (2015, 2021), and a six-time First-Team All-Pro (2014, 2016–2020).

Philly doesn’t want him though. They’d rather sign Nick Sirianni’s buddy, Zach Pascal.

Those are the types of head-scratching and gut-wrenching decisions that have made this offseason so disappointing, so when you’re watching Bobby Wagner make big plays for his new team, remember everything that happened from March 16th to March 24th.

The mishandling of what was supposed to be a roster reconstruction slammed the door shut on any hope of finally adding an all-star to the Eagles linebacker corps, but two moves stand out.
