Who are the best Eagles draftees of a 15-year era that stretches from 2007 to 2021?
Think about something for a moment. What constitutes being the ‘best’ at something? If we were to carve out a list of the best Philadelphia Eagles ever drafted, we’d never be able to construct a group of names that everyone can agree on. After all, we’re talking about almost 90 years of history to comb through, but it does make the imagination wander, doesn’t it?
Even if we were to trim the parameters some and talk about recent history, that would make for some intriguing discussions. Here’s where the rubber meets the road. Inside The Iggles‘ parent company, FanSided, in 2022, is celebrating 15 years of existence. Thinking about that led us to an idea.
What if we reexamined that ‘best draftees’ question using the 15 NFL Drafts from 2007 to 2021 as our area of focus? We looked at four coaching eras (Andy Reid, Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson, Nick Sirianni). We were forced to throw out 2014 entirely. You can thank Marcus Smith, Josh Huff, and Jaylen Watkins for that.
To make long stories short, we have a list that we’re proud of. We have guys that exceeded expectations, a few of the best value picks ever, and of course, we have team legends.
No one from the 2015, 2017, or 2020 classes was included. Barely missing the list is Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders, Landon Dickerson, Isaac Seumalo, Milton Williams, and Tarron Jackson. We love them all. They all deserve honorable mentions, but they’ve got some work to do to climb into the top 15.
Okay, we’ve kept you long enough. Without further adieu, here are the 15th highest-rated draft prospects taken by Philadelphia during the 15-year period that stretches from 2007 to 2015.
