Josh Sweat, 2018 to present. 13. player. 54. . .

One of the more beloved Eagles (and one that touches all of the emotions) cracks the list.

In 2017’s NFL Draft, the Eagles used the 14th-overall selection on Derek Barnett. A year later, with their second selection in Round 4, they went with Josh Sweat 130th-overall.

Keep two things in mind. One, the Eagles didn’t have a first-rounder or a third-rounder in 2018. They had to nail this draft, and for the most part, they did.

Second, with everything that we just said now being on the table, it stands to reason that it should have been Barnett that wound up being the star. Instead, it was Sweat that got the payday first, and it’s Sweat that earns a spot on this list.

. . . Carson Wentz, 2016-2020. 12. player. 54

Like him or not, there aren’t many quarterbacks walking that can claim they possess some of the physical gifts Carson Wentz had or that they could do what he seems to sometimes do without applying any effort.

No, he never won a playoff game. Yes, his time in the City of Brotherly Love will be deemed a failure, but there’s no way that we could name the 15 best players taken by the Eagles from 2007 to 2021 and leave him off of the list in good conscience.
