What if the Eagles would have fielded Zach Ertz and DeDean Jackson simultaneously?
Have you ever hung out with your best friends and argued for hours over whether Muhammad Ali would have gone the distance and beaten Mike Tyson or if LeBron James really is better than Michael Jordan?
Here’s our contribution to conversations and questions that no one has the answer to. What if the greatest deep threat in NFL history and the greatest tight end in Eagles history had played together in their primes? How fun would that have been?
Come to think of it, we need to go update that Madden Ultimate Team rosters. Do we need to tell you how good DeSean Jackson was? Of course, he’s on the list!
We’re talking about the man that hauled in 398 receptions for 6,833 yards and reached the end zone 40 times. That includes what he did in six career playoff games and the three rushing TDs that he notched on 58 career attempts.
Had he not battled injuries and experienced some deterioration during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Zach Ertz would have probably become the most prolific pass catcher in Eagles franchise history.
Just look at the numbers: 123 regular-season games, 85 starts, five starts in seven playoff games, 612 receptions, 6,627 yards, 40 trips to the end zone. He’s a three-time Pro Bowl nod, and no Eagles fan will ever forget where they were when they saw him dive into the end zone to put Philly up for good in Super Bowl LII.
Oh, and by the way, Michael Jordan is the greatest and always will be.
