Lane Johnson, 2013 to present. 3. player. 54. . .

There’s no way that Lane Johnson gets left off of this list of great Eagles.

Chip Kelly didn’t make very many friends in the City of Brotherly Love, nor did he leave Philly with any fans. Trading LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso and shipping DeSean Jackson off will do that for you (among other things).

Chip did do a handful of things right though. One was drafting Zach Ertz 35th-overall, during Round 2 of 2013’s NFL Draft. Another great decision came in that same draft but 31 spots earlier. Chip drafted Lane Johnson out of the Oklahoma Sooners program with the fourth-overall selection.

Having Lane on the right side of the Eagles’ offensive line is a luxury that we sometimes take for granted, but let’s say this right now, while we have your attention. Lane isn’t just a three-time Pro Bowler and one of the greatest Eagles ever. He earned First-Team All-Pro honors in 2017 and Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2021.

This is someone whose name needs to be mentioned as a future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee. He’s been that good. He’s been that good for a long time. We dare you to disagree.
