We wouldn’t change anything about the Eagles trading for Timmy Jernigan.
Back issues or none, as you can see, we wouldn’t change the decision to trade the 74th-overall selection to the Baltimore Ravens to acquire Timmy Jernigan at all. Regardless of how things ended, was a nice addition, and he helped this team win its first Super Bowl. There’s no denying that.
Philly also picks up the 99th-overall selection in the process. Cooper Kupp and JuJu Smith-Schuster are already off of the board, so this is as good a time as any to trade back and add another draft choice.
In terms of talent, there aren’t a lot of guys who are coming off of the board at this juncture of the selection meeting that turn heads or raise eyebrows. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added Chris Godwin at 84, and the Kansas City Chiefs selected Kareem Hunt two picks later, but with defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes going to the then-Oakland Raiders, the New England Patriots settled on offensive tackle Antonio Garcia, and another DT, Montravius Adams, going to the Green Bay Packers at 93, our minds are made up.
You’re doggone skippy! We’re trading the 74th-overall selection to Baltimore, moving back to 99. and adding Jernigan.
Serious question… Would you rather have Timmy or one of those other guys?
