player. 820. . . . Kayvon Thibodeaux, Ducks.

If he can put it all together, Kayvon Thibodeaux would be a massive upgrade for the Eagles.

There have been questions about Kayvon Thibodeaux‘s motor, desire, and work ethic. Some say he’s more concerned with being a star and enjoying the glamour that comes with being a football star than playing and being competitive. His previous statement about his decision to join the Oregon Ducks program because of the Nike brand hasn’t helped his case much. Neither does the decision to opt out of NFL Scouting Combine workouts because it’s been a ‘long day’.

It’s hard to coach desire and work ethic. It would seem like you either have it or you don’t. Then again, maybe we’re overreacting. Maybe Thibodeaux will be fine, but there’s an old saying, something about there being fire where smoke is. Thibodeaux earned a dishonorable mention in one of our recent drafts, one where we detailed draft choices Philly shouldn’t make.

The rumors of Thibodeaux potentially sliding on opening night are concerning (and they didn’t just pop up out of nowhere). Frankly, that isn’t someone you should be packaging picks to move up and acquire.

If there’s a prospect seen as a game-changer and he can upgrade this team, trading up might be worth discussing, but from where we’re sitting, staying put and taking two players in Round 1 for a team with roster holes everywhere sounds like a much better idea.
