Eagles AJ Brown looks to bring more success to the number 11 jersey.

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Monday, via social media, that newly acquired wide receiver AJ Brown will wear the number 11 jersey, making him the first member to do so since Carson Wentz  (if we aren’t counting Zach Pascal). The number 11 certainly has come a long way since the days of Josh Huff!

23 players in the franchise’s history have worn the number.16 of those 23 players wearing the number 11 only lasted one season in Philadelphia. Most didn’t produce much: Tim Hasselbeck, Trent Edwards, Jeff Blake, and Steve Smith (the other Steve Smith… the one we got from the New York Giants).

Yes, the number 11 jersey has seen its share of ups and downs. Four of the 23 players who suited up for the team and rocked this ensemble have been to a combined eight Pro Bowls. Two of the 23 players who did so won a combined three NFL championships in Philadelphia. One won a Super Bowl. If you’re looking for a Pro Football Hall of Famer, we can give you one of those as well.

Sometimes, statements like the following aren’t made for fear of a jinx, so we’ll do it. There’s some hope among Eagles fans that Brown will have a long and successful run that, dare we say, puts him in the Hall as well.

For now, let’s take a walk down memory lane and look at two players who cooked up a lot of highlights rocking the ensemble. We begin with an Eagles legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer.
