5 players the Philadelphia Eagles were right to move on from in 2022

The Philadelphia Eagles’ roster shuffle worked out better than any of us thought it would.

So, in the end, there was a lesson to be learned, and that lesson was about being patient. When the most recent free agency frenzy began, the buzz that came when the Philadelphia Eagles moved quickly and added Haason Reddick was immediately replaced by the anger that came with the decision to, shall we say, ‘run it back’ with many of the members of an average roster.

Most Eagles fans hoped the team would move on from Jalen Reagor and/or JJ Arcega-Whiteside. At the time of this story being written and published, Philadelphia hasn’t moved on from either one of them.

Just about everyone wanted Derek Barnett off of the roster. He’s back. There was even a contingent that hoped the legend, Fletcher Cox, had seen his time in the midnight green come to an end. Philly released him, only to bring him back on a one-year deal.

Everyone has their opinions on whether all of those decisions were right or wrong. Most wanted to see Howie Roseman admonished publicly as his approval rating plummeted. Then, it happened. Howie redeemed himself.

Philly’s G.M./vice president added Jordan Davis and executed a trade to land A.J. Brown. Then, he added two future stars on Day 2 (Cam Jurgens and Nakobe Dean) before picking up two solid depth pieces on Day 3 (Kyron Johnson and Grant Calcaterra). Now, following the acquisition of James Bradberry IV, it feels like Howie would win his second Pro Football Writers Association Executive of the Year Award if it was given out in the summer.

The Philadelphia Eagles roster will feature both familiar and new faces in 2022. Sure, there are some guys that are still here that we wish weren’t, but at least Philly found the courage to move off of the names on this list.
