Say what you want about Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. Sure, he’s as wacky as they come (and we’ve grown to love him for it). Yes, it’s doubtful that he drinks decaffeinated coffee, but perhaps, his most endearing quality is the fact that he’s fully invested.

Believe what you want about this next statement, but Nick cares more about this team winning than any of the rest of us. We all want this team to win. Having Sirianni on the sideline is as close as we’ll come to seeing Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman plucking a fan off the streets of Philadelphia and sticking a headset on him (or her).

That isn’t to say that Nick Sirianni will be free of criticism. We’ve questioned some of the decision-making. The Eagles’ decision to cancel a portion of the offseason workout/practice schedule comes to mind.  That, in turn, made us question some of his comments about his infatuation with ‘competition’, but for the most part, Coach gets it.

None of these things will ever contribute to winning a football game, but we love the T-shirts. We love the passion. We love the fact that it feels like Nick hates the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders as much as the rest of us.

Don’t you dare wear any of the rivals’ apparel around this guy!

Giants fan calls into WFAN with claims that Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni ‘wanted to fight him’.

Who knows if some of these things are true or not. It’s hard to track down ‘Peter from Maple Shade’, a Bronx native, but here’s something entertaining that we saw while perusing the web.

According to a story posted on the ESNY (Elite Sports New York) website, a WFAN caller spoke with Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannott on the morning show and stated that, while playing tennis at Centennial Park in Haddonfield, New Jersey, he almost ‘threw down’ with Nick Sirianni, who was playing on an adjacent court and had informed Peter that he didn’t take kindly to him wearing a Giants hat in public.

Here’s a quote:

"He goes, ‘Hey, I have a problem with what you are wearing,’” the caller said. “And I go, ‘Listen bro, if you have a problem you come over here and do something about it.’ The caller claimed Sirianni said he had a problem with someone wearing a Giants cap “on these courts.” Sirianni also allegedly repeatedly said the Giants and head coach Brian Daboll “suck.” “I’m like, ‘This guy wants to fight,’” the caller said. He claimed Sirianni took a few steps toward him, but the brouhaha ended without further escalation."

ESNY did make mention that Esiason and Giannotti were skeptical, that both pressed him on whether Sirianni was being playful… which, based on what we know about his personality, he probably was if this is true.

Peter claimed that Sirianni was serious, although he provides no real proof as to whether what he said was true or not (or what he may have said or did to help escalate the situation). In the end, although entertaining, this seems to be nothing more than a one-sided claim that none of us can verify.

You can sleep well tonight, Eagles fans. It doesn’t seem as though a suspension or fine is coming.

Seriously what do you say? Sure, you’re probably smiling like the rest of us, but in the meantime, our staff at Inside The Iggles would like to apologize to Nick Sirianni for any statements that may have suggested we’re concerned about how serious he is in creating a competitive culture. Even before any claims were made by ‘Peter from Maple Shade’, he had long proven that he’ll go to war for his football team… But, you can’t go boxing guys on tennis courts.

We’re teasing of course. Okay, enough of that. Let’s get back to football.
