Don’t look now, but Jalen Hurts has become an MVP frontrunner.

Six weeks of the 2022 NFL season have come and gone. The Philadelphia Eagles are atop pro football’s standings as the lone unbeaten team following their most recent victory over the Dallas Cowboys, and as October winds down, a familiar and annual conversation is beginning to creep into discussions again. Who’s going to win the coveted MVP trophy? This time around, Jalen Hurts finds himself front and center in the debate.

These days, it feels as though the MVP award has become a competition between the best quarterbacks on the best teams. Occasionally, a running back or wide receiver receives consideration for being a statistical monster. We may never see a defensive player win the award again. They usually account for less than five of the total 40 votes (if they account for any votes at all).

2022 appears to offer more of the same, with stellar quarterback play coming from every corner of the league. As mentioned earlier, the Philadelphia Eagles remain the NFL’s only undefeated team. Their signal-caller Jalen Hurts is a huge reason why that’s the case, but has he done enough to be the MVP front-runner?

If it’s deemed that he hasn’t, is there another quarterback or shining star deserving of the honor? We answer that now. Here’s a ranking of the five men who should be among the most deserving of the MVP Trophy after six weeks of action.
