Every Chiefs wide receiver’s status for Super Bowl LVII versus Eagles
Patrick Mahomes is getting another of his top wide receivers back as Smith-Schuster is a full go.
Status: On track to play.
After a disappointing end to his career as a Pittsburgh Steeler, a five-game, 15-reception, 129-yard outing that ended with a shoulder injury, JuJu Smith-Schuster signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs this past offseason. He went on to have his best season in the NFL since 2018. The former USC wideout registered 78 receptions for 933 yards with three touchdowns.
He was the team’s leader in receiving yardage. He finished the regular season with 933. Only tight end Travis Kelce had more. He’s finished with 1,338 receiving yards.
JuJu didn’t have the type of AFC Championship Game that he probably would have hoped for. He suffered a knee injury early in the game and didn’t return. He finished his day with one catch that resulted in seven yards. Last week, it was reported that he dealt with some swelling. It didn’t look like he would be able to play, but things turned in his favor this week.
Smith-Schuster was a full participant at practice on Wednesday and Thursday this week. He was given the thumbs up to play in the Super Bowl. K.C. is seemingly hobbled and thin at wide receiver, but they’re encouraged by one of their players being very healthy. He’s the final mention on our list.
