Future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Andy Reid‘s final game with the Philadelphia Eagles was coached on December 30th of 2012. Think about that for a second. Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, and Brandon Graham were a part of that team, but Lane Johnson wasn’t. Look at how long Lane has been here. We hadn’t yet seen the coaching eras of Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson, or Nick Sirianni. Jalen Hurts had just turned 14 years old. In other words, a lot has changed since then. Why is it that, after watching him coach in Kansas City for 10 seasons, we’re still interested in what he has to say?

Maybe it’s because the greatest coach in Chiefs history is also one of the best to ever pace the sidelines in the City of Brotherly Love. When that’s the case, any of his theories about what’s going on in Philly always pique our antenna, especially when memories of him coaching circles around the Eagles staff are still fresh on everyone’s minds.

Andy Reid is very complimentary of Jalen Hurts during his NFL Combine presser.

As expected, the NFL Combine has given us plenty to discuss. There were Nick Sirianni and Howie Roseman’s pressers. Philly announced coaching staff changes. Former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon spoke with the media. C.J. Gardner-Johnson offered a response to something he said via a tweet that has since been deleted.

Another of the highlights of Tuesday’s events was Andy Reid’s presser. The now-two-time Super-Bowl-winning head coach hung out with the media for just under 15 minutes and took a few moments to compliment Philly’s signal-caller.

"I think his future is great. I think he’s a great kid. I had a chance to spend a little bit of time with him at the 101 in Kansas City where he was the NFC Offensive Player of the Year. Very sharp and he had a phenomenal Super Bowl. And, that’s about as much pressure as you’re going to have. He came out and threw for a ton of yards and ran for a ton. So I think Philadelphia is in good hands right there."

Super Bowl 57 doubles as Jalen Hurts’ first Super Bowl appearance. Hopefully, it won’t be his last. Big Red on the other hand has coached on football’s grandest stage four times.

Earlier we asked why we still love hearing from him so much. The answer is simple. He’s forgotten more about football than most head coaches will ever know.

Andy Reid is the all-time winningest Eagles head coach. He’s tutored Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb, and Patrick Mahomes among others. He kind of knows a thing or two about quarterbacks, so if Big Red says the Eagles are in good hands with Jalen Hurts then guess what?

That’s good enough for us. It’s going to be fun to watch Jalen’s continued development.
