The NFL Draft nears. The Philadelphia Eagles own six picks including two in Round 1 and three during the first 62 selections. The news and rumors are flying around rapidly.

The usual discussions about whether or not Howie Roseman will stay put or do some draft-day finagling to add capital and maneuver his way around the board are ever-present. Here’s what we know. Surprises are to be expected.

On Thursday, Major League Baseball and the NBA Playoffs take a backseat to pro football’s annual selection meeting. As far as we’re concerned, it can’t get here fast enough.

The NFL Draft approaches, and we replace rumors about Budda Baker with those relating to Derrick Henry.

Welp, Jonathan Gannon seems to be making friends. Not only is he saying the Philly media wanted him fired when no one ever said that, but two months after Philly’s defensive coordinator of the past two seasons announced that he would take has taken his talents to Arizona, his best player on defense stated he wanted out of the Cardinals organization.

Budda Baker’s current deal with the Cards nears its end. He’s expected to become a free agent during the 2025 NFL offseason if nothing works out, but if he gets his wish and forces his way out early, it’s almost a foregone conclusion that he’ll want some sort of extension.

Lines have been drawn that connect him to the Philadelphia Eagles. He seems to have shown some interest, but so far, there’s no reason to put any stock in any theory that he’ll trade his nest in Glendale or one in the City of Brotherly Love. Only time will tell if that changes. That brings us to Tennessee Titans star Derrick Henry.

For most of us, the final Saturday before the 2023 NFL Draft began with rumors that The King’s camp might be finalizing a deal to bring Derrick to the City of Brotherly Love. CBS Sports insider and The Talk host Akbar Gbajabiamila was the first to report the news. Keep in mind the fact that he and Henry share an agency.

Hours after turning Twitter upside down, he doubled down. Hours after that, A.J. Brown checked in.

This could lead to something. It may not lead to anything. Contract discussions can stall if there are any. If you’re a fan of this theory and you have A.J. Brown’s phone number, you may want to ask him to call his old friend.

Keep it locked. The rumors will only get more hot and heavy as we approach the NFL Draft.

Bookmark this one. We’ll keep tabs on the most intriguing rumors naming the Philadelphia Eagles as the NFL Draft approaches.

Update – April 22nd: Mike Florio of The Sporting News reports there will be no trade for Derrick Henry. Edward Sutelan of The Sporting News offers a nice take that you may want to dig up and check out.

Update – April 23rd: Here’s a curveball, one we heard before but never seemed to take off. Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline reports the Eagles are “making a late push on (Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba) and doing a lot of work on him in recent days”.

Might the Eagles take a wide receiver in Round 1 for the third time in four years? Stay tuned. We won’t have to wait long to find out.
