Jamaal Jackson was a home-run addition that played for the Eagles for seven NFL seasons.

After seven rounds of the 2003 NFL Draft concluded and Jamaal Jackson never heard his name called, the Philadelphia Eagles finally gave him a ring. Jackson is from Miami, Florida, but the move to Philly didn’t cause any stress as he was familiar with the area after playing his college ball at Delaware State University.

Jamaal wouldn’t see any regular season game-day action at all early. He spent the 2003 season on the practice squad. He tore his triceps muscle and missed the entire 2004 NFL season. He finally got his shot a year later.

In 2005, Eagles starting center Hank Fraley went down with an injury. Jackson stepped in and never looked back. He held on to the job for the next four seasons.

Jackson was arguably one of the best centers in the league during those four seasons. He even earned an All-Pro honor from Sports Illustrated in 2006.

Unexpected injuries helped launch Jackson’s career. Unfortunately, his own injuries concluded his run. He tore his triceps muscle in 2010, missed the entire season, and lost his starting job to Jason Kelce in 2011. We all know how that story turned out.
