Ask any die-hard fan who the greatest and most talented Philadelphia Eagles of all time are, and you’re certain to hear Reggie White‘s name listed among the first three mentioned. Some may even place him atop the list.

If you’re old enough to remember, during the dawn of free agency, then-owner Norman Braman refused to pay to keep his best players around. As a result, legends and star players simply left when their numbers come up. Seeing The Minister of Defense leave the City of Brotherly Love to join the Green Bay Packers, however, still stings 30 years later.

No one will ever forget the great memories he gave us though.

Reggie White’s story will be told in an upcoming ESPN 30 for 30 documentary.

Here’s one to place on the calendar. ESPN has announced that it will release The Minister of Defense, a “30-for-30” documentary. No air date has been announced, but you can best believe no Eagles fan will miss that one.

During an eight-year run in the kelly green, Reggie White collected 794 tackles, 124 sacks, and 18 forced fumbles. He even intercepted two passes and racked up 125 return yards and two defensive touchdowns on 11 fumble recoveries. There was nothing on a football field that this man couldn’t do.

His career saw eight First-Team All-Pro nods, five Second-team All-Pro nominations, and 13 Pro Bowl nods. He’s a member of the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team, the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team, the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team, and the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. He’s a member of the Philadelphia Eagles 75th Anniversary Team, the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

His number 92 jersey has been retired by BOTH the Eagles and the Packers.
