Let's discuss.

The Philadelphia Eagles still need one more preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals to start making some determinations regarding the biggest position battles on the team.

Some of these position battles, though, have Eagles fans heated about what is going on. While it's fair to wait until the end of the preseason for some of these to be decided, everyone is just ready to have the answers already.

Three position battles in particular have been talking points throughout training camp, but now we need to go deeper than that with questions that must be answered. Which position battles are drawing these kinds of discussions?

Eagles position battles with questions that need answers

Should Jeremiah Trotter Jr. be more in consideration for starting LB job?

It's becoming an interesting situation in Philly. Trotter is becoming a fan favorite and dominating the preseason way too easily against the backups. He had five tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack in the loss against the New England Patriots, but his sack on Tommy DeVito is what had everyone talking.

Zack Baun is a lock to start, but people believe Trotter is really pushing Jihaad Campbell for the starting job. While it will most likely be Campbell's job to start the season, should there be a competition at inside linebacker, and should Trotter start? That's one that might not be answered, but it certainly will be asked all year if Campbell struggles.

Who is actually going to start between Marcus Epps & Michael Carter II at safety?

It certainly feels like Epps is going to start over Carter, but something is off about it all. Epps has rested in the first two preseason games, and although Nick Sirianni said it wasn't a sign that Epps won the job, Carter has played in those games, so there seems to be a clear leader.

Should Epps have the lead, though? Carter has been playing so well in training camp and clearly has earned playing time. This might be a case of Epps having the lead, but both guys could end up rotating in the lineup.

Can we please give the QB2 job to Tanner McKee over Andy Dalton already?

Let's be honest, Dalton has been terrible, but for some reason, he seems to have the advantage. The Eagles gave him the start in two straight matchups. As for McKee, he has been outperforming Dalton by a mile in preseason games.

There doesn't seem to be much justification for Dalton winning the backup job based on how he's played, but Sirianni still refuses to give McKee the job. It hasn't been a great training camp for the quarterbacks, so let's call for McKee to win it and move on with our lives, please and thank you.
