This offseason was pretty quiet for the Philadelphia Eagles with free agency signing, but they made plenty of trades and draft pick selections that got everyone's attention.
Of course, this offseason will be defined by the A.J. Brown trade that everyone knew was coming. Yes, that was a massive move for the Eagles that will have quite the impact on the 2026 season, but there were other big moves made by general manager Howie Roseman.
There were four moves made by the Eagles that might have more impact on the season than fans think. These are the ones that will make the franchise better in 2026.
Four underrated moves the Eagles made during the offseason
Signing tight end Johnny Mundt in free agency
How miserable was it to watch Grant Calcaterra fail time and time again at blocking a lineman or defender in rushing situations? Well, that problem was solved by the Eagles signing Mundt, whose specialty is blocking at the tight end position. It may be a small move, but it will help the Eagles run the football better with Saquon Barkley and give Philly a guy who knows new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's scheme well since the two have been long-time teammates in the NFL.
Selecting Uar Bernard in the seventh-round of 2026 NFL Draft
This pick has the potential to work out exactly like it did when the Eagles selected Jordan Mailata, and look at how that turned out. Bernard is an incredible athlete who is over 300 pounds, but runs a 4.6-second 40-yard dash with just 6% body fat. Truly insane numbers to see together and ones the Eagles can take advantage of as he learns how to play football. It may be a stretch, but if Bernard catches on fast, he might get playing time to show off the kind of athlete he is.
Moving Sydney Brown to Atlanta and signing J.T. Gray
Brown was a liability on defense and never could win the starting job at safety, making his trade to the Atlanta Falcons one that needed to happen. The next move after that trade, though, was an underrated one as the Eagles signed Gray, an incredible special teams ace. Philly has Marcus Epps to start at safety, so they are fine there, but Gray could be a real weapon on special teams and make that unit better.

Trading for Jonathan Greenard during NFL Draft
The A.J. Brown trade absolutely overshadows the best move the Eagles made all offseason, which was the Greenard trade. After losing Jaelan Phillips in free agency, Philly only needed to trade two third-round picks to get a guy who has had 12 or more sacks twice in three seasons. The best part is that Greenard's new contract extension saved the Eagles over $20 million compared to what Phillips signed with the Carolina Panthers, so a win-win situation for the Birds.
