What we have seen Howie Roseman do during his time as the Philadelphia Eagles' general manager is arguably second to none across this league. He continues to take the right risks, make up for them when they might not work out, and prioritize keeping his star players in Philly.

Of course, there are players Roseman inevitably either misses on or has to let go when their time is up. But it makes those positive outcomes feel that much better. Even when almost being forced out of a player like A.J. Brown, Roseman came out looking like the winner.

Aside from Brown, there are still some questions and situations to be resolved within this roster. For one reason or another, the Eagles have a few key players who will view 2026 through a pivotal lens.

The Philadelphia Eagles have four notable players whose contract says it all for the 2026 season

Tanner McKee, QB

McKee is going into the final year of his rookie deal, and for all of the positive talk around him being one of the league's best backups and somewhat of a best-kept secret, I have a feeling we'll find out next offseason to what level he was not a secret among league circles.

McKee will undoubtedly sign a contract with another team in 2027, either to compete with a rookie or to become a highly paid backup. The Eagles, meanwhile, won't be able to afford keeping him around.

Moro Ojomo, DT

Another young player entering the final year of his deal, Moro Ojomo has done everything right as a seventh-round pick. He's blossomed into a fine player for this Eagles defensive line, and as of right now, it's hard to see the Eagles paying him in 2027. Instead, he'll very likely sign with another team.

The Eagles knew this would happen, too, because they drafted Ty Robinson in 2025 to ultimately replace Ojomo. Howie Roseman is looking years ahead with many of these moves.

The 2026 season is purely an opportunity for Ojomo to earn even more money, making it far more likely he doesn't end up back in Philly.

The underlying story behind not paying guys like Ojomo or McKee, too, is that Philadelphia is bracing to pay Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and this next guy.

Jalen Carter, DT

Arguably, the top priority for Roseman when it comes to paying his players, right now, is that Carter has two years left on his deal. But 2026 is an opportunity for him to add dollar upon dollar to his extension, which he'll likely sign in 2027. There is no way Roseman wants to see Carter play out this current contract and be forced to pay even more after the 2027 campaign.

This coming season is the last chance Carter has to pile on the money for his impending extension.

Dallas Goedert, TE

Most Eagles fans would have assumed Goedert to be gone after last season, but as it turns out, he's back for one more year. That one-year contract was probably more of a placeholder to make sure this offense had someone capable of filling the TE1 role.

But after the Eagles drafted Eli Stowers in the second round, that was yet another step towards ultimately saying goodbye to Goedert in 2027.

With how often we see teams using multiple tight end sets now, the Eagles will probably continue to draft at the position next year as well, with Goedert likely leaving behind his final season in Philadelphia.
