The trade was made, and Philadelphia Eagles fans are finally done with the A.J. Brown drama.

Brown was sent packing to the team he wanted to be with all along, the New England Patriots. Philly received a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick, getting the top-32 draft selection they have been wanting from a Brown trade.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman spent 45 minutes in a Zoom meeting with the media, explaining the decision to make the trade. Roseman felt it was the best decision for both sides.

“I think that when we looked at the totality of the circumstances and having the conversations we had with him, felt like where we were, where we were going, where he was, that if we could find something that kind of achieved our goals of getting a first-round pick going forward here in the near future, getting the money back to spend on other players on our team and other teams, and it was a win-win situation based on where he was and how he felt, we were open to that," Roseman said via The Athletic's Zach Berman.

While it is a vague response, every Eagles fan knew why that trade was made. One, Brown has been requesting a trade for a long time and has grown tired of the lack of targets and the offense's inefficiency. Two, there was a broken relationship between Brown and Jalen Hurts that was causing problems for the team, as the locker room might have been fine, but it was a massive distraction off the field.

Roseman understood that the time had come this offseason to make the trade, and the Patriots presented with the perfect opportunity the moment they released Stefon Diggs. It was a perfect match, as Brown was reunited with his former head coach, Mike Vrabel, while giving New England the number-one receiver they needed.

In turn, Roseman also got what he wanted in a first-round pick for Brown in a trade. The Eagles traded a first-round pick for Brown four years ago, and since he has been a two-time Pro Bowler and three-time second-team All-Pro selection in that time frame with the Eagles, it's only fair that they get a first-round pick for him.

It's a crushing blow to lose Brown on offense, as he is considered one of the best wide receivers in franchise history, but his constant off-field complaints were too much for the Eagles to handle. This was ultimately the right move, and kudos to Roseman for getting a good deal in the Brown trade, as the Eagles are set up for a strong foundation in the future.
