The misery continues for the Philadelphia Eagles fan base, as they suffered a sixth straight loss. This time, the Washington Commanders delivered a 27-10 blowout that will continue to haunt the Eagles.
Philly's offense only had 268 total yards, while the defense played better, allowing 339 yards. The Eagles were bad on third down again, converting just five of 15.
Let's just get this over with. Here are instant reactions to the Eagles' horrendous loss to the Commanders.
Initial reactons to Eagles' Week 8 game against the Commanders
Eagles' running game is back to being bad again...great
It was nice while it lasted for one week, with the running game doing well, but it was back to being just plain bad again. They averaged 3.1 yards per carry and had 86 yards, with Saquon Barkley scoring the lone touchdown in the first quarter.
Elijah Mitchell led the way with 34 yards, while Barkley got 30. Not sure what happens next, but with no help from the offensive line and the backs unable to create explosive plays on the ground, this unit is a lost cause.
Tanner McKee is just not making any highlight plays
At this point, McKee is...fine, but it's hard to think the Eagles will win any games with him at quarterback. His longest play was 24 yards, but he completed only 23 of 34 passes for 212 yards and one interception, and he also fumbled.
Given what the Eagles need on offense, they need a quarterback who can make big plays downfield, and he's not the guy to do that. It might be time to take a look at Joe Milton at quarterback.
Jalen Carter got the message and answered the bell
Carter had a very quiet Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys, and there may have been a reason. Many who watched the game tape questioned his effort, prompting comments from the two-time Pro Bowler about not caring what fans think.
It seems Carter heard everyone loud and clear, and he put together a strong performance. He finished with five tackles, one pass deflection, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack. No one can question his effort in his game
Philly's secondary got torched on big pass plays again
This is the story of the secondary with Riq Woolen getting beat on nearly every pass play in the last two games. Even Quinyon Mitchell was getting burned on big plays. Of course, Andrew Mukuba is a horrendous coverage safety and allowed his long pass plays as well.
The Eagles allowed four plays of 20 or more yards in the air, including a 53-yard completion from Treylon Burks after he beat Mitchell badly on the deep ball. It feels like the secondary is getting worse without Christian Parker coaching the unit—a rough look.

Can we please just accept that the Eagles' season is over?
This message is for general manager Howie Roseman: buddy, the season is over. Please make some trades, collect some draft picks, and let's just move on with our lives.
Guys like Woolen, Dallas Goedert, Moro Ojomo, and others are not making us better or worse. They are just there, making plays here and there. Philly is 2-6, the season is over, and let's blow this thing up and move on with our lives, please and thank you.
