5 Eagles included in top 100 list they are (mostly) deserving of being on

Makes sense to us.

While the 2025 season in no way was going to feature any Philadelphia Eagles players getting consideration for the NFL's MVP, there were still plenty of worthy players who performed well enough to be in the running.

ESPN analytics writer Seth Walder gave his top 100 players who are considered real MVP candidates. Walder had five Eagles on the list, with cornerback Quinyon Mitchell taking the highest ranking at 18.

18. Quinyon Mitchell, CB
39. Cooper DeJean, CB
60. Zack Baun, LB
68. Jordan Mailata, OT
78. A.J. Brown, WR

"Mitchell continued to ascend, making a case to be the best corner in the NFL despite not having any interceptions this season. His other numbers were strong: 0.7 yards allowed per coverage snap and 0.6 in man coverage, far better than the 1.1 average for the position. Mitchell recorded a league-best 47.7% expected completion percentage against him and was even better in actual completion percentage allowed, giving up receptions on only 41.7% of passes he faced."

Eagles had five players ranked in the top 100 for MVP, but is that right?

There aren't going to be many arguments about the defensive players that made the list, especially since Mitchell and DeJean were both All-Pro selections. Baun himself was a Pro Bowl selection, and while he didn't have nearly as many tackles in 2025 as he did in 2024, he did so much more in pass coverage and pressuring the quarterback off of linebacker blitzes.

The questions start coming with the offense, with Mailata and Brown making the back half of the list. Mailata is always reliable and was the Eagles' best offensive lineman by far this season.

Brown, though, had just 1,003 yards (lowest of his Eagles career) and seven touchdowns. While those are still good numbers for him, he was not as consistent a performer as he has been in the past, as most of those numbers came in the second half of the NFL season, when the Eagles force-fed him the ball.

An argument could be made that no one on the Eagles' offense should be in the top 100 outside of Mailata and Lane Johnson, since Johnson did not allow a quarterback hit or sack in 262 pass blocking snaps. More recognition for the defense, though, is greatly needed, as that unit really played well in 2025 and should set the foundation for a great 2026 season once again.
