Who wants the job?

The Philadelphia Eagles have been searching for an offensive coordinator for over two weeks, but they have hit a wall with no traction.

They have seen several candidates fall out of contention, including Mike McDaniel, Zac Robinson, and Arthur Smith. Philly is taking their time with the decision, but one has to be made if it wants any shot at nabbing one of the top ones out there.

We rank the five candidates still out there the Eagles should hire for the offensive coordinator job.

5. Declan Doyle

Doyle is a massive risk for the Eagles, but if they want to take a chance on a young offensive mind that has respect around the NFL, he's the one to take a chance on. Over the years, Doyle has worked with some of the NFL's great offensive minds, including Sean Payton and Ben Johnson. Doyle has never called plays before, but the potential he has is greater than what Kevin Patullo was before the Eagles removed him, so he's worth the risk for Philly.

4. Jim Bob Cooter

This isn't a name that is going to get Eagles fans excited, but his offense has been consistent in Indianapolis over the last few years. One thing Cooter's offense does well: run the football with Jonathan Taylor. Yes, Cooter doesn't call the plays, but he has Nick Sirianni's respect after serving as a consultant for the Eagles in 2021 and has proven he can do the job well, so it's not the worst choice out there.

3. Kliff Kingsbury

There have been no reports that Kingsbury has been given an interview with the Eagles, but it would be crazy if they weren't talking to him. Sure, his system is more of a college one, but Kingsbury can run the ball well, and Jayden Daniels has developed nicely as a quarterback with the Washington Commanders over the last two years. The Eagles really should consider Kingsbury more for the job.

2. Mike Kafka

The more Kafka stays available, the more sense it makes to bring him in. He has a connection with Saquon Barkley and was a quarterback in Philly back in the day, as well as his former New York Giants were a top 15 offense despite being one of the worst teams in the NFL last year, which Kafka had the offense perform well when he was the interim head coach of the Giants. Kafka is also more likely to stick around for more than one season, so this makes too much sense not consider.

1. Brian Daboll

There is reportedly still a chance the Eagles could get Daboll, so if that is the case, a full-court press will be needed to secure his services. A lot of it depends on what happens with the Buffalo Bills head coach search, but the connections with Jalen Hurts and Barkley just make way too much sense not to hire him. It may be a situation where he stays for one year and gets a head coach job in 2027, but the Eagles need to get aggressive and get one of the top offensive minds in the NFL.
