Raise your hand if you haven't slept in a while. Yep! That's what we thought. We couldn't sleep on Saturday night and haven't slept since the Philadelphia Eagles raised the Vince Lombardi Trophy on Sunday.
Here's the craziest part about all of that. We aren't even tired. We were more exhausted as we waited (and waited even longer) for the Super Bowl's opening kickoff to occur. It feels like the NFC Championship Game was over a month ago.
Every night, since the NFCCG, we fell asleep, and we dreamed the Birds won the Super Bowl. Then, we woke up only to realize the game hadn't been played yet.
Well, if we were dreaming on February 9th, don't wake us up. What's that? It really happened? Well you don't have to tell us twice. This victory will be celebrated for a while.
We'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to a half-dozen Eagles after they silenced the doubters in Super Bowl LIX.
The term Negadelphia exists for a reason. No one is harder on their team than Eagles fans and Philly media members, but here's why we love them.
No one loves their team more than Eagles fans and the Philly media. And, yes, we'll admit when we are wrong. We'll also point it out when someone else needs to write the retraction.
C.J. Gardner Johnson and Zack Baun deserve apologies from the Saints organization.
We would like to thank the New Orleans Saints for being a second-tier organization. They didn't know how to develop talent or bring the best out of two players who have come to Philly and blossomed. We can't figure out why they couldn't figure out how to use these guys.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson's first stint with the Eagles came when he was traded to the Birds on August 30, 2022, along with a 2025 seventh-round draft choice. Philly sent a 2023 fifth-rounder and the lower of two sixth-round picks to the Saints to serve as compensation.
Two years later, they allowed Zack Baun out of the door. He has since earned a Pro Bowl nod and a First-Team All-Pro mention.
We honestly don't know what the Saints were thinking, but we're glad they thought it. C.J. and Zack are both huge reasons why the Eagles have won another Lombardi Trophy.
Jalen Carter deserves an apology from everyone who questioned his character.
Jalen Carter deserves an apology from everyone who called him everything except his name. His character was called into question. He was called an awful human being.
Did he make a mistake? Oh, he absolutely did, but he has never shied away from taking accountability.
The name-calling was, however, unnecessary. He's a good guy who has done some bad things. You can't find anyone who knows him that will say unpleasnt things about him.
He isn't just a good football player. He's a good guy we're watching grow up, and he's turned his life around. That's to be commended.
Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio deserves an apology from me.
I owe Vic Fangio an apology. Hey, I'm not going to hold everyone accountable and not hold myself accountable. I questioned the Fangio hire, and boy, was I wrong!
I listened to what was being said about him by former Dolphins players. I mentioned he was hired as a consultant before the Birds played the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, and I was very aggressive in saying that hire did nothing.
The truth is Fangio is a genius who has forgotten more about football than I'll ever know. After that performance by his team in the Super Bowl, there is nothing left to criticize.
Vic... Please accept my sincerest apology, and if you're up for it, the cheesesteaks are on me if you want me to buy you lunch.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts deserves an apology from everyone.
Jalen Hurts is owed an apology from everyone who has placed Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Herbert, and just about everyone else ahead of him.
Until those guys win Super Bowls, the only person who can be mentioned ahead of Jalen is Patrick Mahomes. Oh, and by the way, Jalen has outplayed Patrick in the Super Bowl twice, and he's beaten him once.
Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni deserves an aplogy from everyone except for Ike Reese.
Nick Sirianni has been called "a clown". The entire city of Philadelphia tried to fire him. He's been disrespected more times than we care to remember.
This is a damn good football coach. You can't fake anything for that long. He's earned his extension, and he can make all of the weird references as often as he wants.
He can cut his hair off. He can mouth off at fans and tick everyone off with his antics. Nick is one of us, and he has more than earned his wings. He's a fantastic Eagle.
And, just about everyone owes him apology, everyone except for Ike Reese. The latter has had the former's back forever. We should have listened to you Ike! And, to Nick, we promise to never doubt you again.
