The Philadelphia Eagles are nearing the beginning of training camp, and the intrigue is high as the team has a lot of players who could make the team.
To the credit of Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, the team is deeper than it ever has been on the roster. A lot of the talent they have brought in during the free agency period has played and started, giving the Birds great experience all around the roster.
There are six players on the active roster who could leave training camp with a roster spot that no one thought they could get.
Which 6 Eagles players will raise eyebrows with stealing roster spots?
Johnny Wilson, WR
Wilson is going to have a tough time beating out Elijah Moore and Darius Cooper for the final spot or two at wide receiver. Before his season-ending injury last year, Wilson looked terrific in camp and was on his way to making the team. He has made significant strides as a receiver since his rookie year, so the Eagles should give him a chance to play, and he could make the most of it.
Chance Campbell, LB
Outside of Zack Baun, Jihaad Campbell, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr., the linebacker position for Philly is wide open. Chance Campbell is a veteran who has seen some action in the past and has been good in the preseason, but he rarely could break through. This might be the year where he could jump in and take a spot with a linebacker room that is lacking depth.
Uar Bernard, DT
There has been a lot of chatter about Bernard since the Eagles drafted him, so calling him a sleeper might not be 100% true, but no one believes he will make the roster since he is still learning American football. With that being said, the natural, raw talent he has as someone who can run a 4.6-second 40-yard dash at over 300 pounds just makes him too appealing to leave on the practice squad. If he catches on quicker than expected, Bernard might be able to make the team.
Elijah Mitchell, RB
Mitchell already knows new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's scheme from his time with the San Francisco 49ers. Will Shipley has been disappointing through his first two seasons, and while Dameon Pierce is a veteran, he isn't what the Eagles are looking for. If Mitchell can find the same guy who had a monster rookie season, he could be the next RB3 on the team.
Shaun Wade, CB
Wade was one of the top cornerbacks in the UFL, ranking near the top in pass deflections and interceptions. The Eagles have been big on making sure they have enough depth at the position over the last year. Philly could be in the running to keep six cornerbacks on the roster, leaving Wade's chances to make the team higher.

Maximus Pulley, S
The safety position is really up in the air for the Eagles, so anything can happen and anyone can take a job. Pulley had a nice college career and showed flashes at OTAs to give Eagles fans confidence in him going into training camp. Don't be surprised if a name no one is talking about, like Pulley, ends up pulling off the impossible and winning a roster spot.
