Eagles stars found unorthodox way of preparing for 2026 season

That's one way to do it.

There are so many ways that Philadelphia Eagles players are trying to prepare for the 2026 season during this dead period, but some might be a bit odder than others.

Take, for example, what Eagles players Saquon Barkley, Cooper DeJean, and newcomer Elijah Moore are doing. Apparently, the three got together and have been doing some unorthodox exercises to get their ball security skills up to par.

The NFL's social media account reposted an 18-second video showing the three circled up participating in this "workout." Their first workout was gripping the ball in one hand and pushing the other hand into it very quickly while someone tries to knock it out of their hands. The last part of the clip shows them circling the ball from one hand to another around their bodies from their head down to under each leg over and over again.

Sure, this is different from what other workout videos have shown over the last month, but it is still just as important. This will pay off for Barkley and Moore, who will have the ball in their hands way more often than DeJean will.

Barkley and Moore are proving, though, that these workouts should pay off during the season. Looking back at the stats, Barkley has touched the ball 2,184 times in his eight-year NFL career and has fumbled it nine times, with four of them being lost. As for Moore, he has touched the football 238 times on offense and special teams, fumbling it three times and losing it twice.

This is different for DeJean, since he won't have the football in his hands as much. It's still a good exercise for him and the other two, since it can also help them with hand-eye coordination and tracking the football better.

The most important thing is working on their grip strength with the ball in their hands. Once they have the ball between their palms, they want to make sure that they don't lose it.

Something like this isn't like the weight room workouts or going on the field to run routes, but this is still a good example of how things are different in Philly this season. These players are doing whatever it takes to get the small things right so they can grip the Lombardi Trophy in their hands in February of 2027.
