The Philadelphia Eagles are almost a month removed from the A.J. Brown trade to the New England Patriots, which didn't surprise anyone, but kept people talking.
New England sent a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick to Philly in exchange for Brown. Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean and former Eagles safety Reed Blankenship started up their "Exciting Mics" podcast again, where DeJean talked about the Brown trade.
"I mean, yeah, I wish him nothing but success over there for sure. Yeah, he'll be a good asset for them. And obviously, we're gonna miss him, and what he was able to do in Philly. He was a dominant player, so you'll get to go against him. But yeah, now we get to play against him, or joint practice. It'll be fun to go against him and see him up there in Foxborough, different colors."

Some players, like Jordan Mailata, chose to be thankful that the trade happened, so they can move on. DeJean stuck with his expected subdued approach and wished Brown all the best with the Patriots.
Brown, while he might not have been the most popular outside the team, was beloved by his teammates. Often, he was seen as one of the leaders in the locker room, even though some people weren't happy about how vocal he was on social media or on streams about his frustrations.
There is a belief that the Eagles will miss Brown, as his teammates did love him. He was also a great talent on the field, with four straight 1,000-yard seasons, and made two Pro Bowls and three second-team All-Pros during his four years in Philly.
Many Eagles fans are not going to admit it now, but Brown is going to go down as one of the best wide receivers in franchise history. He might not have been on the team for very long, but his impact helped them reach two Super Bowls and win one.
DeJean and company now have a group of new receivers that include rookie Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks, Hollywood Brown, and Elijah Moore. Those four may not necessarily replace A.J. Brown, but they can still step up and play well for the Eagles.

It'll be an interesting 2026 season without Brown still in Philly, but this is an Eagles team that can still play. DeJean, an All-Pro, will play a big role in ensuring this franchise doesn't lose momentum going into a massive year for everyone.
