Every Philadelphia Eagles fan can admit the same thing that everyone else thinks about the ugly 34-17 loss to the New York Giants in Week 6: this offense is not great.
Sure, the passing game is showing some kind of improvement as Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 283 yards and a touchdown, but did have his first interception of the season. Hurts is at least spreading the ball around between A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert.
The running game, on the other hand, again hit a massive wall. Technically, it is an improvement from the 60 yards they gained against the Denver Broncos in that loss in Week 5, but they still rushed for just 73 yards as a team, averaging 3.7 yards per carry.
Even worse, this team was horrible on third down, converting just one of nine attempts in the game. How about adding that they had 20 yards total in the first three drives of the second half? Also, they had back-to-back turnovers to close the game, making this the first game this season the Eagles had more than one turnover.
Yeah, it's safe to say this offense is not humming, and there's one finger to point at: Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. At least that's what the fan base would say.
Patullo gets defended by his players after Giants loss
To the surprise of everyone, it's Brown who spoke out in defense of his offensive coordinator. Brown knows Patullo is feeling the heat from everyone, but he is pleased with the job Patullo is doing.
"He's non-stop. I think honestly, you know, I think he's doing an amazing job. He's trying to get us the ball and talk about things that we may see, ideas that he has. You know, it's non stop communication and I know he's getting a lot of scrutiny, but I think he's doing a good job and keeping this thing going."
Brown finished the game with six catches for 80 yards on nine targets. Funny how just over a week ago, he shared a cryptic post on social media with his frustrations, and all of a sudden, he's happy with the offensive play caller?
Is it Brown trying to save Patullo from any more criticism? Or is this the case that Brown is just happy to get the ball?

If there is one thing everyone can agree on, it's that no one believes this offense is good or that Patullo is doing his job well. Things must change with this offense in a hurry.
