2 winners (and 3 losers) in Eagles' epic fourth quarter collapse loss to Broncos

What a disgusting loss.

The Philadelphia Eagles blew a 14-point fourth quarter lead to lose to the Denver Broncos 21-17 on Sunday.

There were a lot of problems with the Eagles as they were only two of 11 on third down and committed some bad penalties in the fourth quarter. Jalen Hurts did have a season-high 280 yards passing in the game.

While there were some winners, there were way more losers in the game than there have been all season.

Winners: A.J. Brown & DeVonta Smith, WR

Looks like complaining works out sometimes. Brown and Smith were excellent for the Eagles as they finished with a combined 13 receptions for 157 yards. It's a valuable lesson for Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo to throw the football more to those players and ensure that he does it early and often in each game for the remainder.

Loser: Landon Dickerson, LG

Everyone knows that Dickerson has been banged up during the preseason with a meniscus injury and during the regular season with back issues as well. He has had bad luck with injuries as he was rolled up on with his ankle in the first half and left the game early. It might be time for the Eagles to consider giving him some time to heal up properly before putting him back on the field.

Loser: Quinyon Mitchell, CB

Just another game where Mitchell is shutting down receivers. Well, that was the case for the first three quarters until the fourth quarter, when he had a penalty in the end zone and allowed too many easy catches. Seven tackles and one pass deflection later, Mitchell is still great, but he did not play particularly well in the fourth quarter.

Winner: Zack Baun, LB

Ever since Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio decided to send Baun out on more blitzes, it has just added another element to his game, where he has become a jack-of-all-trades. Baun finished the contest with 12 tackles, two quarterback hits, one tackle for loss, and one sack. Unfortunately, he committed a personal foul penalty on the final defensive drive, which gave Denver a new set of downs, so he should be a loser, but he survives and stays a winner.

Losers: Eagles in fourth quarter

Penalties absolutely crushed the Eagles in the fourth quarter, with five of them, three on defense and two on offense. The defense folded like a piece of paper, allowing 15 points. The offense didn't do much with 41 total yards for the quarter. Philly's failure to play four quarters has finally bitten them in the butt in the worst way.
