The Philadelphia Eagles appeared to have tried to hold off as long as they could, but they couldn't do it anymore with a roster move four weeks in the making.

On Sunday before the Denver Broncos matchup, the Eagles announced their inactive list for Week 5. This was the shortest inactive list of the season for the team, as they only had four players on it.

  • Sam Howell, QB (third QB)
  • Mac McWilliams, CB
  • Drew Kendall, OL
  • Xavier Gipson, WR

There is a noticeable name that is no longer on the inactive list after four consecutive weeks. Eagles fans will finally see Azeez Ojulari on the field.

Ojulari finally gets his shot to play in 2025

It has been an interesting season for Ojulari, who hasn't taken a single snap after four straight weeks with inactive status. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was asked about Ojulari earlier in the season about him being inactive and it was about having him in the best matchup for him. Ojulari's defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, contributed his inactive statuses to what the team needed on special teams.

During the offseason, Ojulari and Josh Uche were the two big names off the edge signed by the Eagles in free agency. Ojulari disappointed during training camp and preseason, while Uche made a big enough impression to be heavily in the rotation to start the season, with much success.

Philly was forced to make Ojulari active after Nolan Smith Jr. and Ogbo Okoronkwo were placed on IR with triceps injuries. Smith is expected back in the next month or two, while Okoronkwo is out for the season.

One interesting storyline to watch out for in the game is how Ojulari will be utilized. Will he see snaps on either defense or special teams?
