The curious case of struggling Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has gotten even more complicated, as the former All-Pro's sharp decline in 2025 continued by catching just two passes for 13 yards in Philly's narrow 10-7 win against Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers in Week 10.
Brown is in the middle of the worst season of his career, as his 3.9 receptions per game is his worst mark since his rookie year and his 51.0 yards per game is by far the lowest mark of his professional life. Even though the Eagles are 7-2, the tension is still there.
Either Brown is clearly not a fit for what offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo wants to do in the passing game, or Patullo is simply incompetent. Either way, Brown may reignite trade rumors in the offseason if he keeps playing and talking like he has been.
Brown implored disgruntled fantasy football owners to drop him from their teams if they have him, seemingly accepting that he is going to spend the remainder of the year as a seldom-used decoy. This doesn't sound like someone who is particularly happy in his current environment.
Eagles WR A.J. Brown tells fantasy football players to drop him
For all intents and purposes, Brown has been leapfrogged as the No. 1 option in the passing game by Devonta Smith. As good as the former Heisman Trophy winner is, it'll be hard to find any Eagles fans who could call him a superior player to Brown.
Perhaps the most unusual thing about the 2025 Eagles' offense is the fact that tight end Dallas Goedert has more catches than Brown. Patullo may point to the flow of the game or Goedert's own individual excellence for this discrepancy, but he simply can't get more catches than a star like Brown.
In theory, Brown has it made in Philadelphia, as he is a well-compensated top passing option for one of the league's best teams. However, if the targets are falling to the point where even an aging tight end who isn't going to be here is now getting more looks than him, it's fair for Brown to explore other options.

Even if the Eagles come to their senses and fire Patullo at the end of the season, bringing in yet another new offensive coordinator, the relationship between them and their moody No. 1 wide receiver may have been fractured to such a point that he could demand a trade to a situation that will feed him at all costs.
