Everyone had a bad day at the office, including some of the best players on the Philadelphia Eagles.
Many people criticized Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts for his performance on Day 1 of the team's joint practice with the New England Patriots. Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, on the other hand, had a very good day shutting down former teammate and Philly's public enemy number one, A.J. Brown.
The question was how Mitchell would respond on Day 2 and whether he could keep the momentum going. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
Quinyon Mitchell's bad day at Eagles-Patriots joint practice will help him
Bleeding Green Nation's Brandon Lee Gowton recalled a play where Brown was able to get a touchdown on Mitchell. It was not a flattering comment about the Eagles' corner.
"A.J. Brown has been eating Quinyon Mitchell’s lunch," Gowton said. "WR caught a contested ball thrown behind him from Maye for a Pats TD."
This ended up being a common theme throughout the second day of Eagles-Patriots joint practice, as Mitchell would lose to Brown on multiple occassions. How many times exactly?
"AJ Brown up to 5 TDs, all with Quinyon Mitchell in coverage. He cannot be stopped."

He cannot be stopped
Yeah, not the best day for Mitchell. Overall, Mitchell got beaten multiple times by Brown and was lit up pretty badly after playing good defense on Brown on Day 1.
In 16 games last year, Mitchell finished the campaign with 45 tackles, 17 pass deflections, and one fumble recovery. He allowed a completion percentage of 44.3% and a passer rating of 64.3. Mitchell was named to his first Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro selection in 2025.
Granted, it's easy to look at these reports and think that it was a bad day for him. Clearly, it was not a good situation, and Mitchell had a rough day at the office—definitely one he would like to forget.
This could also be a really good learning lesson for him, as he went up against one of the best wide receivers and look how that worked out for him. Mitchell has been a top-10 corner for the last two years because he spent a lot of time covering Brown in practice.

It's an opportunity for Eagles fans to see how Mitchell responds to this kind of adversity. While it was a bad day, he just got better as a cornerback.
