At this point, most NFL fans know what is going to happen with the Philadelphia Eagles and their star wide receiver A.J. Brown, as the rumor mill just won't die with trade talks.

The Eagles have been heavily linked to the New England Patriots to send Brown there for multiple draft picks, and it is a matter of when at this point. Some believe that an agreement is already in place. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter put those rumors to rest when he was asked about it on the Pat McAfee Show.

"A lot of people have connected the Patriots to A.J. Brown, and that's a logical landing spot," Schefter said. "There's no handshake agreement between the two sides to get A.J. Brown to New England despite the rumors."

No handshake deal is in place between Eagles and Patriots for A.J. Brown

Most Eagles fans will see it as a non-story, which is probably true. Brown seems to be on his way out, but Eagles general manager Howie Roseman isn't going to rush the process or give either team an advantage.

There is a financial aspect to the deal that needs to be considered, with the Eagles needing to wait until after June 1. After that date, the Eagles' large dead cap with Brown will be halved, and they will actually save $7 million on the cap, so it makes sense to just wait until then and do nothing.

Plus, there is a lot of buzz around the 2027 draft class, so the Eagles would probably prefer to have the picks next year rather than this year. If there are key positions they need to address in the future, and next year's class will fix those, getting those picks is more valuable.

Most Eagles fans are just ready for this storyline to end and for a deal to get done with the other portion of the fan base believing that Brown will still be an Eagle in 2026. No matter what, fans just want a resolution to this very annoying topic.
