Times in Philadelphia have been brutal for the Eagles, especially at edge rusher with injuries and retirements affecting the position. One retirement news might actually work in the Eagles' favor.
A source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter that former Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham is now considering coming out of retirement to join the team. The Eagles have been plagued with issues at edge rusher, including Nolan Smith Jr. and Ogbo Okoronkwo being placed on IR, and Za'Darius Smith stunning the team with his retirement announcement.
There has been speculation as to whether Graham would come out of retirement to help the team. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was asked about Graham earlier in the week, but he said that he had not of anything.
Graham played all 15 seasons of his NFL career in Philadelphia, making one Pro Bowl, selected to one second-team All-Pro team, and racked up 76.5 sacks. He won two Super Bowls with the Eagles.
Graham's potential return would come at the perfect time
A lot of this decision could depend on how things roll for the Eagles, as they have been on a two-game losing streak of late. If Philly doesn't look like they will be competitive for the postseason or Super Bowl, it may not make sense for Graham to go back out there.
What a dream it would be for Eagles fans to see one of the most beloved players in franchise history return. Injuries cost him six games last year, but his role on Fangio's defense would be as simple as being a pass rusher on passing downs.
The Eagles' edge rushers have struggled mightily with getting to the quarterback. The unit has a combined 2.5 sacks on the season, with 1.5 of that coming from the now-retired Smith.

Graham would be an instant upgrade to a position that desperately needs it. Let's see if he will actually follow through on returning.
