When things couldn't get any worse for the Philadelphia Eagles after losing two straight games, it happened. Again.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter was told by sources that Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter has already been ruled out of the Week 14 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers after undergoing a procedure on both of his shoulders. Carter is going through treatment for both shoulders and is considered week-by-week now.
Schefter added that this injury could be a multi-week injury. For now, Carter is not being considered for the injured reserve.
Eagles continue to be in massive trouble after the Carter injury news
It's already been a wild season for Carter, who was ejected from the season-opener against the Dallas Cowboys for spitting at Dak Prescott and was fined for the incident. He also missed the first New York Giants matchup because he had a separate injury at the time.
In 10 games, Carter has racked up 32 tackles, 11 quarterback hits, six pass deflections, four tackles for loss, and two sacks on the season. After a slow start, Carter was finally starting to pick things up and looked like the Carter of old from last year.
This is a devastating blow for the Eagles, who can't afford any more critical injuries. They have already struggled without Lane Johnson in the starting lineup on offense, resulting in two straight losses for the franchise.
It now all falls on Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo to step up at the interior defensive line. Davis and Ojomo have both had stellar seasons, with some who might argue that they have outplayed Carter at times.
