Adam Schefter’s Jayden Daniels warning could change everything for Eagles

Possibly some good news for the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in a rut; there's no doubt about that. The birds have dropped three straight games and look like a shell of the team that won the Super Bowl 10 months ago.

Fortunately, they'll likely still win their division and get to host a playoff game, and from there, anything is possible. The Eagles are still very much playing for playoff seeding, and to close the year, they'll play the Raiders in Philly, the Commanders in D.C., the Bills in Buffalo, and then the Commanders in Philly. That's a favorable schedule to close out the year, and those Commanders games might get even easier if Washington listens to Adam Schefter's advice.

Schefter appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and spoke about the Jayden Daniels situation. For those who might be unaware, Daniels got banged up once again in a meaningless game for the Commanders, and that prompted Schefter to say that it's time for Washington to sit its star quarterback for the remainder of the 2025 regular season.

"To me, it's an easy decision. We appreciate how much you want to play, but we're going to sit you down. We're out of the playoffs. Start gearing up for a great season in 2026. But right now, this season has gotten away from the Commanders. What are we doing? Why are we putting him out there? I know football players play, I got it. To me, a guy that's taken so much hits, had some injury issues, I'm not letting him play. But that's me, it's not my team."

Eagles could catch a massive break if Commanders shut down Jayden Daniels

While we're not rooting for injuries by any means, there's no debating that the Commanders are a better team with Daniels under center than with Marcus Mariota at quarterback. Philly fans saw this firsthand during Daniels' rookie season when he and the Commanders beat the Eagles late in the regular season last year.

Yes, the Eagles got their revenge in blowout fashion in the NFC Championship Game, but Daniels is still a talented quarterback and gives the Commanders a better shot to compete whenever he's on the field. With the slump Philadelphia is in right now, any advantage it can get in these final four games will be much appreciated, so if the Commanders do decide to rest Daniels for the final month of the season, you won't hear Eagles fans complaining at all.
