There was a big conversation in the days leading up to the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 14 showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers, in which head coach Nick Sirianni was heavily involved in offensive game planning with offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. What were the final results of that?
Well, it sure didn't help the win column as the Eagles horribly fell to the Chargers, 22-19, in overtime. The offense technically looked better than the Chicago Bears' offense in their Week 13 loss, as they racked up 365 yards, with 134 on the ground. Ultimately, the number one stat is the ugly five turnovers by quarterback Jalen Hurts: four interceptions and a fumble lost, to be exact.
After the game, Sirianni spoke with the media, and one reporter asked whether he would stay involved in offensive game planning as he had in Week 14. There were no denials from Sirianni on the subject.
“I’m the head coach, so my attention goes to places I feel it needs to go. This week was with the offense. I’ll continue to go in there with those guys and grind it out through the weeds with them.”
Sirianni didn't have to say it, but he's going to be involved
The one positive from the Eagles' offense is that they at least got running back Saquon Barkley going. Barkley rushed for over 100 yards for just the second time this season, ending the game with 122 yards on 20 carries, and had a 52-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give the Eagles the lead at that point of the game.
There are still plenty of problems with the offense, though. Once again, the offensive line looks banged up and just average. They are somewhat improving, but there isn't the most excellent protection for Hurts, and Landon Dickerson once again got hurt despite coming back into the game.
Speaking of Hurts, the Eagles now have a massive problem at quarterback. He has completed over 60% of his passes in a game once in the last five games and has seven turnovers in that span. His confidence looks shattered, and he has forced multiple passes into tight coverage against the Chargers.
Even at wide receiver, there is a slight problem. How about A.J. Brown having three key drops in the game? One was a touchdown, one was a significant gain, and one caused Hurts to have his third interception of the game.
There are still concerns with Patullo as he did too much bubble screens on third down and the play-calling was all over the play. Improvement was made, but it was still not a well coached game by him.

Sirianni has a ton of work to do with this offense, and while his seat may not be hot, it is heating up a bit after three straight losses and three games where the offense looks elementary.
