While there is relief from the Philadelphia Eagles fan base that A.J. Brown is off the roster, there is a sense of sadness that he won't be wearing the number 11 jersey anymore.
Brown was traded to the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick. After the trade, Brown shared a heartfelt goodbye message to the Eagles fan base and the franchise.
"Thank you for welcoming my family and me with open arms from day one. This city, this locker room, and this fan base will always hold a special place in my heart.
To my brothers in that locker room - thank you for going to battle with me every single day. The memories we made together, on and off the field, are something I'll carry with my forever.
To the coaching staff, training, equipment staff, cafeteria workers, and the cleaning crew - thank you for everything you do behind the scenes to keep us going. There are so many people in the building who make it possible for us to go out there and compete, and I'm grateful for all of you.
Playing for this city has been an honor and I'm thankful for every moment I had in midnight green.
Thank you, Philly. Much love always. God bless."
A.J. Brown says goodbye to Philly one last time as he heads to New England
Brown was traded to the Eagles from the Tennessee Titans during the 2022 NFL Draft and is considered one of general manager Howie Roseman's best trades. The Eagles finally had their number one receiver for Jalen Hurts, and it certainly was everything that Philly fans imagined it to be.
During his four-year run in Philly, Brown made two Pro Bowls and three second-team All-Pro selections. He recorded 1,000-yard seasons in all four years as an Eagle, helping the franchise appear in two Super Bowls and win one in 2024.
While the last two seasons were filled with drama and Brown's frustration with how things were going with his targets, he was seen as a great locker-room guy and leader within the organization. He also had a massive impact on the Philadelphia community through his work across the city.
