Yeah it might happen.

All the other 31 NFL teams have been interested for years in figuring out how Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been so good at his job.

This has led to many within the Eagles' front office being nabbed by other teams for their top executive jobs, which Philly should take as a high compliment. The 2026 offseason appears to be no exception to that rule, as that continues to be the trend for the Eagles.

CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones reported that the Atlanta Falcons have requested to interview Eagles senior personnel director Joe Douglas for their general manager opening. Douglas rejoined the Eagles before the 2025 season after spending time as the New York Jets' general manager.

Eagles could lose Joe Douglas to Atlanta Falcons for their GM job

Douglas is not as much of a surprise as a candidate, but it would be an absolute stunner if he gets the job. During his five and a half years as general manager of the Jets, his team only went 32-68.

Before Douglas' time with the Jets, he was the vice president of player personnel for the Eagles, as he and Roseman built a Super Bowl-winning team with Doug Pederson as the head coach. That success made him a big name for general manager openings in the NFL.

The Falcons, of course, are not only targeting Douglas for the open general manager job, but there are a lot of former Eagles who are also up for the job:

  • Andy Weidl (former vice president of player personnel)
  • Ian Cunningham (former director of player personnel)

Douglas is going to have some stiff competition with Cunningham being one of the favorites for the job, but the Eagles should expect some of their top front office guys that have helped Roseman out over the years to get look for other jobs in the offseason.
