Everyone knew from watching the Philadelphia Eagles play last year that starting center Cam Jurgens was struggling to play.
Jurgens played most of the season, dealing with injuries that kept him from playing as he did in 2024 during the Super Bowl. While appearing on Bussin' With The Boys, Jurgens opened up about his struggles with the back injury he dealt with during their Super Bowl run and how it affected him all of last season.
"It's tough. That Super Bowl we won, I mean, I had a herniated disk, and right before the playoffs, my disk, like, broke off and got wrapped around my sciatic nerve, so it was just suffocating my leg. It was hard to walk. I don't know how I was playing. It was easily the worst month of my life, but also like the best month of my life because we won the Super Bowl, but it was just miserable dude. Just the pain, and getting surgery and trying to get back for the next year. You know it's always tough having surgery in the offseason, but when you get back surgery, it is tough. Like it takes a good year to come back from that, and I'm starting to feel really good, but all year just trying to get through that. It's been a tough year with the back, but it's feeling so much better."
Cam Jurgens proved his Philly tough with his back injury
Jurgens has already had such a tough career through just four years after being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was responsible for replacing the legendary future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce at center and had some massive shoes to fill.
It has ended up well, as Jurgens has been a Pro Bowl selection in both seasons he has been the starter, in 2024 and 2025.
Last year, though, there was a dip in his performance as he played in 14 games, missing two for injury, and the other was due to starters resting in the final week of the season. Brett Toth ended up replacing him for those games, but even the extra rest was not enough for him.
This offseason, Jurgens has been doing everything he can to get healthy, including a trip to Colombia for a blend of ozone therapy, cryotherapy, and traditional physical therapy.

The good news is that he appears to be almost back to full health to play in 2026. Can he stay healthy now is the next big question.
