It has been clear from the beginning of the season that Philadelphia Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson has not been 100% healthy, and this has affected the team.

Dickerson suffered a meniscus injury in training camp that required surgery. He was still able to play through the season, but it has certainly had its bumps and bruises along the way.

On Monday's injury report for Week 6, Dickerson showed up with an ankle injury and was labeled as "did not practice," which was an estimation since the Eagles did not actually practice. Dickerson left the Eagles' 21-17 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday early after his ankle got rolled up on early in the first half.

What does it all mean for Dickerson now entering Thursday's game and moving forward? It's not looking so good for him.

Dickerson is expected to miss time with his injury

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reported on Tuesday that Dickerson is expected to miss the next game or two with his ankle injury. McLane also added that tight end Grant Calaterra's news is that he is unlikely to be ready for Thursday's game against the New York Giants after injuring his oblique against the Broncos.

Losing Dickerson is tough news, but it might not be the worst thing in the world for the Eagles. It has been noticeable that his play has suffered, as PFF gave him an overall grade of 57.7, ranking him 57th out of 104 guards in the NFL who qualify.

Eagles fans have been wondering if some time off the field would be best for Dickerson. Since the Eagles are off to a good 4-1 start to the year, he could use this time to rest up and heal for the back stretch of the season.

Regardless, the offensive line appears to be set, with Brett Toth expected to start at left guard in place of Dickerson. Will Toth be able to hold up against a strong Giants defensive line on Thursday?
