The Philadelphia Eagles fan base still can't believe how badly they fleeced the NFL during the 2024 draft by selecting cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the first two rounds.
Mitchell and DeJean both made the All-Pro team in just their second NFL season last year. This has started to lead into the conversation that the corners will eventually have to get paid a ton of money, with extensions in the next year or two.
Bleacher Report writer Brad Gagnon named one player on each team who is considered the most underpaid on their team. DeJean took the top spot for the Eagles, but by only a slight amount from Mitchell.
"The team's top two draft picks from 2024—Quinyon Mitchell and DeJean—have both become stars in the Philadelphia secondary. Mitchell is the higher pick and was probably a slightly more impactful player in 2025, but he'll cost the organization $4.0 million in '26 compared to just $2.5 million for DeJean."

The advantage Mitchell has is a fifth-year option on his contract that could make him one of the highest-paid corners in the league when the time comes. DeJean, on the other hand, only has two more years on his contract, so next offseason becomes critical for the Eagles.
Philly's 2027 offseason is going to be a very tough one for the Eagles, as they will have to make some decisions with DeJean and Mitchell. Since DeJean and Mitchell are arguably top 10 corners and have different lengths on their contracts, both players could land long-term contract extensions next offseason to make sure it is fair between the two and not create any friction between them.
Many of the decisions the Eagles have made this offseason are leading to the moment they have to pay DeJean and Mitchell. All the one-year contracts and contract extensions being given to Braden Mann and Jordan Davis are to help the team prepare for next offseason when the two young corners finally get their chance to land new deals.

Philly will have a lot of expensive moves they will have to make with DeJean and Mitchell, but it will be worth it as they have been steals for the team. DeJean is highly underpaid and will soon get his money.
