Dallas Goedert seemed to be hinting at a monster encore season with Eagles

We need it!

While the Philadelphia Eagles offense had some major disappointments last season, tight end Dallas Goedert was one of the few bright spots on the unit.

Goedert exploded with a strong season, breaking the franchise record for touchdowns by a tight end with 11, which led the team to let him return for another season on a one-year deal. He had a chance to speak to the media about what he expects from the tight ends with Sean Mannion now running the show on offense as the play caller.

“There’s a lot of easy touches to the tight ends, getting the ball in space and scheming ways to get us open," Goedert said.

Sean Mannion sounds like a tight end-friendly offense, and Dallas Goedert is all for it

This actually sounds much different from what Eagles fans saw in former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo's offense and how the tight end was used. Goedert didn't have many big plays in the passing game, as most of his touchdown catches were from five yards or less, as he was a goal-line threat. He ended up having a career-low 9.8 yards per reception, the first time he has ever gone under 10 yards a catch.

Things will be different under Mannion, as his offense brings the Eagles into the modern age, making them more spread out and giving the tight ends a better chance to make a real impact. Watch for Mannion to have more Goedert and rookie second-round pick Eli Stowers involved in the passing game.

Goedert might end up losing targets in 2026 because Stowers is on the team and the Eagles are looking to run more 12-personnel with two tight ends. It should still lead to more yards per catch and bigger gains on passes for Goedert that could make up for it.

Eagles fans are going to enjoy this season with Goedert, as it feels like this could be his last one, since the team will eventually want to move forward with Stowers. It's all set up for Goedert to have a strong season with the team.
